The Heart of TEO
Michelle Teo, MD
I was raised to achieve more than my parents could give me, equating my worth with my work. I became a high-functioning perfectionist in a healthcare system that rewards endurance over well-being—until my younger sister, Nicole, died in a car accident. That loss forced me to face a painful irony: I was striving to be indispensable to an organization that would continue without me, yet I was truly needed by the people I loved, and who loved me.

This was my wake-up call.
​
Through my own burnout and a terrifying health crisis with my daughter, I saw our medical cracks as a physician, a parent, and a patient. I realized that when these structures fail, it is the human experience that suffers most. I founded Team Empowered Outcomes (TEO) because I refuse to accept a reality that fails both those who provide care and those who receive it.

We have already proven a model of team-based care that eliminates exhaustion and expands access. Now, we are proving that AI makes that model even better—not by replacing us, but by serving as a catalyst for a higher quality of care. By carefully integrating technology into the clinical workflow and patient journey, we return to our true calling: the human connection.
